Telehealth (Virginia)

BCBS billed through Blue Cross

Secure telehealth for clients across Virginia. A note from your brain at 2 a.m.: Anxiety is remarkably creative — it can draft an entire disaster screenplay from one unanswered text. In therapy, we don't dismiss those feelings; we get curious about whether the plot matches what usually happens when you actually try things.

Anxiety therapy across Virginia serves adults from Northern Virginia’s commuting corridors to Richmond, Charlottesville, and beyond — places where career pressure, long drives, and “keeping it together” can keep worry on high. Telehealth removes the windshield time so we can focus on worry loops, avoidance, and nervous-system skills wherever you are in the Commonwealth.

Anxiety can look different for different people. For some, it may feel like excessive or uncontrollable worry. For others, it may show up as muscle tension, difficulty relaxing, overthinking, self-doubt, or getting caught in catastrophic thoughts that make it difficult to stay present. In therapy, we'll work together to understand how anxiety shows up in your life, identify the triggers, explore what keeps it going, and what progress would look like for you. In the first session, we’ll go with what you feel like sharing. My objective in the first several sessions is to work with you to “operationalize” the problem(s). In other words, what is it about anxiety that’s problematic for you? Once we’ve agreed on the problems, the goals, and what’s exacerbating the anxiety, we can break down those goals into mini-goals or action steps together, based on what you feel might help and my clinical toolkit. General strategies include things like distress tolerance, exposure, learning to calm the body down, problem solving, and noticing thoughts and staying committed to values-driven behaviors. I always start by listening to what the person wants changed in their life, and then together, we figure out what you need to do to create a very small change. Sessions provide a supportive, non-judgmental space to process challenges, learn skills, and create a plan for practicing those skills in everyday life. The goal of anxiety therapy is not to eliminate anxiety altogether, but to help you respond to it more effectively.

Treatment approach is the same across locations; what differs is how we meet (in-person in Asheville or telehealth where licensed) and the local context you bring into the room.

Please note: Telehealth clients must be physically located in Virginia at the time of session.
